Day Two of Thurston Del Moore:

For those of you just joining me, yesterday I attributed a quote from Thurston Moore calling for a radical takedown of the music industry, to Ms. Lana Del Rey. 

It has since been reblogged by an actual Lana Del Rey fantumblr and is rightfully causing a little bit of rage as well. 

By the way, it was kinda Jeanette’s idea:

I saw this in a Facebook conversation that Jeanette was having with someone about Lana del Rey. I knew that the quote at the beginning of “Heaven’s On Fire” by The Radio Dept. was Thurston Moore, but always forgot to look up where it came from. 

…people see rock n’ roll as youth culture, and when youth culture becomes monopolized by big business, what are the youth to do? Do you have any idea? I think we should destroy the bogus, capitalist process that is destroying youth culture with mass marketing, commercial paranoia, behavior control. And the first step to do is to destroy the record companies, do you not agree? 


I’m watching “Slow Century.” I just saw Thurston Moore speak for the first time.

Bad vibes, man, bad vibes. I think I really, really hate Thurston Moore.

People who hate Andy Warhol hate him for the same reasons I (think I) hate Thurston Moore. There’s even a little facial resemblance.
