Fleet Foxes – Dancing on My Own (Robyn cover)
This would be pretty awesome if Robin Peckinold didn’t think it was necessary to switch all the gender pronouns in the song.
C’mon, dude - Jack White doesn’t have to do it, nobody has to do it. Sing the song the way it was written instead of switching up all the words to remind us that you’re a man. You’ve got a fucking beard.
However, I do enjoy picturing Rob Peckinold going out to a dance club by himself and doing a weird Thom Yorke dance with a single tear rolling down his cheek, and people staring at him like “Dude, who is that? How did he get in here? What’s wrong with him?”
“Oh, shit, that’s Rob. Oh, leave him alone - he’s working through some stuff.”

the wilhelm scream (james blake cover) by the bamboos ft. megan washington
woah… It’s kind of an awesome idea to take a song like “The Wilhelm Scream” and pretend that it’s a James Blake remix of a song that doesn’t exist yet, and then make that song.
CORRECTION: a little light Wiki’ing tells me that “The Wilhelm Scream” is actually James Blake covering his dad. Wild. Why did no one tell me this??

“I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” // Brandon Linn
I adore this song. When I went through my YHF phase last semester, I had an intense period of watching the opening credits to I Am Trying To Break Your Heart on repeat. Anyways, my baby B-Linn has just released his rendition of the song for all the ladies out there. Get it for free on his bandcamp and enjoy!
Oh man, I’m blown away by this one…
i’d rather go blind (etta james cover) by man man
i’ll believe in anything (wolf parade cover) by plants and animals
I always suspected that this song could be covered well, I just never heard one quite this good.

the park (feist cover) by bon iver
I’m no Bon Iver fanboy, but so this is hands-down my favorite thing he’s ever done.
This is one of possibly three songs I can play on guitar now.
plenty is never enough (tenement halls cover) by the shins
